I am sure you have all been there you get this great game, download and install it, and the loading screen comes up... SWEET Dirt 2 in all its pixelicious glory finally on my machine! And theres your destop. Wait, Ahh it must just be playing with me, I will start it again, heres the awesome title Dirt2 and here comes the.. crash to desktop? This can't be its brand new!
So yes this is the experience even the most tech savvy of us get from time to time. My latest one as you can guess Dirt2. I actually could play the game, then one day it wouldn't start. Figuring it may be a process conflict, I found a solution that has allowed me to play it. Game Booster From the same people that I get my Smart Defrag. I ran that bad boy, made one edit to it services, and it ran like a charm. (The edit I made was when you click edit services, I changed "IPBusEnum=1" on my operating system section to "IPBusEnum=0" because it was hanging on resuming to normal mode.
So now before I play Dirt2, I run Game Booster and I can play it fine. Hopefully the boys over at Codemaster will figure out how to make their game more compatible but in the meantime I love this little program, it also helps with performace because it turns off services you don't need while gaming :)
Till Next Time... Ciao.

John & Ken Interview Jamie Jungers Tiger Woods Mistress #4
I usually abstain from topics like this because I think there is so many things that are more important to address, however I do love when John & Ken attack a topic. So I will share this with you.
Mistress #4: Jamie Jungers bragged that she had naked pictures of Tiger Woods. The Jungers's family has known this for a long time.
Jamie Jungers's ex-fiance / Derrik Schmit was furious with , because she had been cheating on him, then the tabloids ambushed him. Jamie's mom and sister told Jamie Jungers's, over thanksgiving that they were going to go public with the story if she doesn't.
Video interview with Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins all confirms the opposite side saying that Jamie is lying.
Jamie swears a lot, and repeated says she has a PR agent and Lawyers.

Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp points out the truth.
Some of the most honest stuff I have ever heard.
Makes you think. She also points out some of the most controversial points of owning guns. Namely the fact that guns aren't only there to protect us from everyday criminals, but at times from the criminals in the government, and to defend ourselves from tyranny.
Search for the truth with an open mind.
I know that many of you may not agree however I point this out because I believe people should know the facts, and do research. This is especially important when it comes to defending your self and others from harm.
The Government doesn't want you to be able to defend yourself.
Sad. What do you think?

Navigation Comes to G1 (android)
With the release of the Verizon Droid, Google released a new maps program with that phone that allows you to get turn by turn directions. Of course the rest of the Android users didn't get this yet. So because of the open nature of Android, we have figured out how to port this maps to the HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1.
I don't take credit for figuring it out the great Android community at XDA developer forums did that, however I do want to share it with you, in a nice format that makes it easy.
The only prerequisite is that you must have rooted your phone already. If you need help with that. plaese go here. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod

They say you need to be running the custom rom "CyanogenMod 4.2.3.1" however if you back up first you can probably run it on any rom.

Social Impact of Internet and Computer Technology
I have done research on the social impact of internet and computer technology. I found that many people have not tackled this topic as a whole. Most people have looked at small pieces of technology, and how their innovation has impacted specific human behaviors, however they fail to address the bigger picture.
Socially, internet and computer technology is what the viewer or user makes of it. As with any tool this technology can have positive and negative affects on a person's life. It can be used to help someone get close to people just as much as it can be used to help push themselves away from human interaction. In life, it is one choice among many. I hope to show people that they are making that choice, in hopes that they will review it, and make the choice that brings them closer to their goals.
If you understand the preceding paragraph, the rest of my article is my explanation. If you are still reading, you are probably curious as to how I substantiate my claims above.
My website and my previous posts will undoubtedly show that I am a technophile, commonly referred to as a geek. I use computers on a daily basis. There are many people who would say that computers are causing people to be anti-social and forgo interaction with the "outside world." They would be right about that fact. We live in an age where it is very easy to not leave the comfort and security of ones own home. For the serious recluse groceries can be ordered online and delivered to their kitchen or door step. Most bills can be paid online, and many people can work from home online. For a reclusive person, it is now easier than ever to comfortably avoid society, however I would like to stress that its a choice.
The people who say the internet and computer technology isolates people from the rest of the society are not taking into account the fact that people have and make a personal choice. Just as some people use the internet to avoid society, internet can also be used to interact with society. I would be willing to bet that it has caused more social interaction, rather than less. For every person who chooses not to leave their house, there are probably a hundred who have reached out, posting a video on YouTube or joining a social network. Innovations, on the internet and with computers, are used to further communication and increase social connections.
I am an excellent example of my point. Growing up, all I knew was a small, art based beach town in California. I knew a small group of people and had only a few friends. It was not until I got on the internet that I really started to meet people from all over the world. I now have friends in Australia, the UK, Canada, Brazil, and many other places. I may never be able to meet my friends face to face, but because of the internet, I now share stories, pictures, and fun with them.
I am an avid gamer and I have played with people all over the world. I have even used the internet to find a group locally that I could LAN party with. I have also used the internet to share my experiences & opinions with my readers. As I have said before, the internet and computer technology has a different value for every single user.
I have always liked the bell curve. It allows me to stay positive. The link between a bell curve and a positive outlook may not be immediately clear. I look at everything as a bell curve following a simplified version of the Central Limit Theorem called the Three-sigma rule (also called empirical rule). This rule simply states that in normal distribution, nearly all values lie within three standard deviations of the mean (average). I am using Positive people Negative people, and Neutral as my deviations to illustrate the type of people in the world using the internet.
I believe that .2% of the people in the world will use the internet for something absolutely, abhorrently negative, or to isolate themselves. Another 4.2% are also not really up to any good, so in all that makes 4.4% that are probably negative. I do not see is as a truly terrible thing, because a bitter taste will foster a greater appreciation of the sweet. 27.2% of people are out there doing the absolute opposite. These people are being super-positive, writing blogs, searching for "the truth," doing research, founding organizations, helping others. So this, leaves 68.2% of people just being normal. Between the amazingly positive and the normal, 95.4% of people use the internet as a tool to connect to others, make new friendships, buy and sell goods, and generally help the world function. This means that 95.4% or more of the people are not doing something negative. If you have been doing the math you will notice that .2% is missing. This is because there are .2% of people that are fringe users who's activities cannot be generalized or easily identified.
Basically I believe that out of every hundred people on the internet, ninety five people and 1 child, are not doing something negative. That leaves four people and one midget are doing something negative. Of course someone somewhere is still making up their mind what they are going to do. Overall thats a pretty good use of the technology.
The social nature of the internet and computer technologies stand them apart from other technology. This technology arose from the need to share information in a bidirectional manner. Where TV and radio, to a large extent, are used almost entirely to push information out, the internet is a give and take of information. The internet allows the easy cross reference and validation of most information.
It has been proven that humans are naturally social creatures, and statistics show this. It took radio thirty-eight years to reach fifty million listeners. It took television thirteen years, and cable only took ten. It only took the internet five years to reach fifty million users.
It is said that the active users on Facebook doubles every six months. Networking sites, dating sites, Chat Rooms, and YouTube have made it increasingly easy to socialize and meet many new people, people that we might never have had the chance to meet. However this does come with drawbacks. For instance, the more such technology proliferates, the less pivacy people seem to have. Colleges and employers are beginning to look up future students and employees on the internet to help determine their moral character. Think of that next time you post a drunken frat party photo, or an off color joke. Remember you are the sum total of your actions. The more of these actions that end up online, the world gets a better picture of just who you are.
So how do you use the internet?
Socially, internet and computer technology is what the viewer or user makes of it. As with any tool this technology can have positive and negative affects on a person's life. It can be used to help someone get close to people just as much as it can be used to help push themselves away from human interaction. In life, it is one choice among many. Cool Easter Egg on Facebook
A Fun Little Experiment
Refresh/reload to get rid of it.
Sometimes programmers get bored while making things so they put things like this in their stuff as a joke/easter egg for people to find.

Instant Messaging Made Easy
Through the years instant messaging has gotten more and more popular. I am old enough to remember the days when Compuserve, Prodigy, and AOL seemingly ruled the internet. When the smart and savvy internet crawler, used IRC. Well interestingly while some companies have fallen, and other services have emerged, Instant messaging has remained. Now the names include Myspace IM, Yahoo, MSN, AIM (Aol's instant messanger), & Facebook to name a few. However each of these clients have their own messanger to install, and if your like me you may not want to install all of those programs. Especially if your on someone elses computer but need to talk to a friend. Thats why Meebo, is my favorite way to message.
Instead of having to install something, you can message right from your browser with out installing anything if you want.
Of course this can be a little annoying keeping a browser open on your computer all the time to recieve messages, so the great people at Meebo created the notifier. Install this on your main computer and this one program keeps you logged on without having to run each of those programs, and it notifies you when you get a message. or whatever else you tell it to notify you for. With only a small memory footprint.
Greatest thing is when you get a message all you have to do is click on it and it opens up your browser of choice and opens up the meebo window.
If you have Android there is even a client for your Android phone also!
But don't take my word for it, Check it out for yourself learn first hand. By trying it out. Tell us what you think in the comment here.

For me Meebo stands for:

Many of you have asked us what the name meebo means, where it comes from, etc. Unfortunately for those of you who were expecting some sort of juicy story, meebo is not a secret acronym or an inside joke. As far as we know, it doesn’t translate to anything — the closest definition is the Mouse Exonic Evidence Based Oligonucleotide (MEEBO) but that’s totally unrelated to us
So a while back we were eating lunch at CPK one afternoon, and because we were bored, we thought it’d be fun to do a brain dump of possible product name ideas.
We wrote down all the possible names we could think of on a napkin. Two syllables were a requirement and Elaine leaned heavily towards names that started with the letter M. It had to have no prior association and the spelling had to be easy enough so that if you heard it, you could spell it. (It took us weeks to come up with a good logo but it all worked out =p)
We came up with about fifty before we started repeating ourselves (the napkin got kind of inky by that point). The waitress also started giving us looks because by then, we’d started playing enunciation games and arguing over who had better spelling skills =p. Driving back home, we entered all fifty names — one by one — into a browser and eliminated all but something like five, because the rest were taken. After playing with variations on the few remaining, we picked meebo and voila!

Balloon Boy Story Goes Pop
There is something sad about parents creating a drama, and fabricating a story to get media attention. You have to wonder, did their parents love them when they were a kid? Maybe they are just so lazy that it seemed like an easy way to make money.
I will say though sometimes it does seem like people who do stupid things (like have 8 or more children through In Vitro Fertilization (IFV)) seem to get a lot of money for being stupid. Going on TV shows, enforcements. While you and me work hard, and try to be responsible, and the government takes our money, and spends it on their hotel stays in other countries, and nice big armored SUV's. Here is an idea why don't you politicians acctually be decent representatives, and civil servants, then maybe the people won't want to do bodily harm to you. Then you wouldn't need the armored vehicles, and can really spend that money on making our country better.
All of that aside, what do you think should be the punishment for the Balloon Boy Farce. I hope that they throw the book at them, wasting everyones time, and money on a publicity stunt. I wonder how many people went without important care, because the police were dealing with "Balloon Boy". What kind of example were they showing to their children? We can only hope that it was a child's prank.
Till Next Time.

THEY'RE MADE OUT OF MEAT
By Terry Bisson
"They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"Meat. They're made out of meat."
"Meat?"
"There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat."
"That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?"
"They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines."
"So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact."
"They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines."
"That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat."
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient race in that sector and they're made out of meat."
"Maybe they're like the orfolei. You know, a carbon-based intelligence that goes through a meat stage."
"Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several of their life spans, which didn't take long. Do you have any idea what's the life span of meat?"
"Spare me. Okay, maybe they're only part meat. You know, like the weddilei. A meat head with an electron plasma brain inside."
"Nope. We thought of that, since they do have meat heads, like the weddilei. But I told you, we probed them. They're meat all the way through."
"No brain?"
"Oh, there's a brain all right. It's just that the brain is made out of meat! That's what I've been trying to tell you."
"So ... what does the thinking?"
"You're not understanding, are you? You're refusing to deal with what I'm telling you. The brain does the thinking. The meat."
"Thinking meat! You're asking me to believe in thinking meat!"
"Yes, thinking meat! Conscious meat! Loving meat. Dreaming meat. The meat is the whole deal! Are you beginning to get the picture or do I have to start all over?"
"Omigod. You're serious then. They're made out of meat."
"Thank you. Finally. Yes. They are indeed made out of meat. And they've been trying to get in touch with us for almost a hundred of their years."
"Omigod. So what does this meat have in mind?"
"First it wants to talk to us. Then I imagine it wants to explore the Universe, contact other sentiences, swap ideas and information. The usual."
"We're supposed to talk to meat."
"That's the idea. That's the message they're sending out by radio. 'Hello. Anyone out there. Anybody home.' That sort of thing."
"They actually do talk, then. They use words, ideas, concepts?"
"Oh, yes. Except they do it with meat."
"I thought you just told me they used radio."
"They do, but what do you think is on the radio? Meat sounds. You know how when you slap or flap meat, it makes a noise? They talk by flapping their meat at each other. They can even sing by squirting air through their meat."
"Omigod. Singing meat. This is altogether too much. So what do you advise?"
"Officially or unofficially?"
"Both."
"Officially, we are required to contact, welcome and log in any and all sentient races or multibeings in this quadrant of the Universe, without prejudice, fear or favor. Unofficially, I advise that we erase the records and forget the whole thing."
"I was hoping you would say that."
"It seems harsh, but there is a limit. Do we really want to make contact with meat?"
"I agree one hundred percent. What's there to say? 'Hello, meat. How's it going?' But will this work? How many planets are we dealing with here?"
"Just one. They can travel to other planets in special meat containers, but they can't live on them. And being meat, they can only travel through C space. Which limits them to the speed of light and makes the possibility of their ever making contact pretty slim. Infinitesimal, in fact."
"So we just pretend there's no one home in the Universe."
"That's it."
"Cruel. But you said it yourself, who wants to meet meat? And the ones who have been aboard our vessels, the ones you probed? You're sure they won't remember?"
"They'll be considered crackpots if they do. We went into their heads and smoothed out their meat so that we're just a dream to them."
"A dream to meat! How strangely appropriate, that we should be meat's dream."
"And we marked the entire sector unoccupied."
"Good. Agreed, officially and unofficially. Case closed. Any others? Anyone interesting on that side of the galaxy?"
"Yes, a rather shy but sweet hydrogen core cluster intelligence in a class nine star in G445 zone. Was in contact two galactic rotations ago, wants to be friendly again."
"They always come around."
"And why not? Imagine how unbearably, how unutterably cold the Universe would be if one were all alone ..."

My Thoughts Cell Phone Technology
When looking at cell phone technology nowdays, its really easy to get lost in the 2g,3g, Wifi, Bluetooth, Touchscreen, Multi touch, 3MP, 5MP, WM6, Android, Symbian.
With all the different options and prices ranges, what do you need, and what do you want.
If I could have my dream cell phone, here are some of the features that I would like. Surprisingly this is not terribly far off.
If you are a cell phone manufacturer, contact me.
With all the different options and prices ranges, what do you need, and what do you want.
I am a computer tech / g33k, so my needs and wants probably will vary from the vast majority of you, however this is how I see it. The features I for in my phone are the one that I use, and will allow me to push my phone to its limit. I like to get the most bang per buck out of my devices, and my phones aren't any different.
First of all there on two operating systems I prefer on cell phones. Android and Symbian. The reason I like these systems, are that they both allow for a lot of customization, and have a good base of programs to choose from. I believe that they both empower the user more than most the other mobile phone Operating Systems out on the market.
They do each have their Pro's and Cons. This is how they break down for me.

Android
Pro
- Open Source
- Flexible
- Free
- Lots of free programs
- Great potential
- Always improving
- Great community
- Support for many different kinds of hardware
- Easy to mod
- Based on Linux
- Extremely Customizeable
Con
- Not always stable
- Still being optimized
- Memory Hungry
Symbian
Pro
- Open
- Inexpensive (soon to be free)
- Lots of free programs
- Reached most of it's potential
- Supported largely by Nokia
Con
- Different versions (causing program writing/compatibiliy issues)
- A hassle to update.
- Tricky to Mod
- Memory Hungry
If I could have my dream cell phone, here are some of the features that I would like. Surprisingly this is not terribly far off.
- Zii Plaszma Platform preferred or Nvidia chipset
- Android OS
- Multi Touchscreen with hardware keyboard
- 1Gb+ high speed memory built in for RAM
- 1Gb high speed memory built in for programs and OS
- 6GB for storage
- hot swapable micro sd slot.
- Wifi
- Ability to broadcast audio to adjustable FM station.
- Bluetooth
- 3g+ ?
- Montion sensor As many axis as possible
- Compass
- Ambiant light detector
- GPS
- 5MP Camera with decent flash
- Ir illumination for night video recording.
- 1080p recording
- 1080p Projector or mini HDMI out (most likely led powered)
- Of Course it would be waterproof and shockproof!
- (emergency inflateable life boat/beacon/Parachute/Zip-grappling line and barb included, flamethrower optional)
As crazy as some of those requests are, I based almost all of these requests on prototype and production devices, and technology that exists right now. I don't know of any device yet that has combined these all together in one glorious machine. If you could have the dream cell phone, is there anything that you would want that I didn't mention ?
If you are a cell phone manufacturer, contact me.
